Slavic SACO Funnel? : Complete the Survey

Just off the OCLC-cat listserv:

Dear all,

The Automation and Bibliographic Control Committee of the Slavic and East European Section of ACRL is conducting a survey on the need for establishing a Slavic SACO Funnel Project.  The goal of this survey is to collect data that will help the ABC committee determine whether there is a need for a SLAVIC SACO Funnel Project, and we would like your input.

For those of you who don’t know what the funnel project is, here is an excerpt from the LC SACO Funnel Projects FAQ page:   http://www.loc.gov/catdir/pcc/saco/funnelfaq.html#3

“A funnel project is a group of libraries (or catalogers from various libraries) that has joined together to contribute subject authority records for inclusion in the Library of Congress Subject Headings…  Funnels can often provide feedback, review, and expert consultation to catalogers in specialized areas more expeditiously than other mechanisms…  There may be members at all levels of expertise; however, LC deals solely with the coordinator… Some funnels may be composed of individuals working in a particular language or subject specialty within larger institutions. These parent institutions may or may not be PCC participants…”

Through a funnel important news, alerts, etc. can be distributed to its’ members.
